Sunflower Seeds and Jerusalem Artichokes

Two seemingly incompatible things, right? Finding new associations or connections between incompatible concepts is a key step in creating innovation! In his book, Big Think, Bernd Schmitt, business professor at Columbia University, describes what innovation is... it doesn't arise from incremental improvements in what you're already doing. Rather, it is the radical creation of something new.

Innovation is, simply, the introduction of something novel - a new idea, method, behavior, or device.
Novelty and newness have a tremendous positive impact on our moods, our relationships, and our actions. Innovative thinking is creative, bold, and visionary, and resilient. It is proactive and "thinking big."

We've all heard the expressions "think outside the box," "be creative," and "open your mind." But how?
Can we learn to "think big?" How can we include the new in our daily lives? Can we awaken each morning, using the power of innovative thinking — to create our best lives?

Yes! Innovative thinking can be learned. Innovation is so powerful because it helps us improve beyond what we thought was possible only yesterday. Truly innovative thinking helps us develop further in personal and professional areas, and stay tuned in to new ideas and possibilities.

If you're as excited as I am about the power of innovative thinking and what it can do for your life, join me!

P.S. As it turns out, Sunflower Seeds and Jerusalem Artichokes are not very different at all. They are actually part of the same plant. But, Sunflower Seeds and Innovation? Now that could be — a radically new idea!
